The Department of Orthopedics and Physical Rehabilitation has a long-standing history of excellence in clinical care and in orthopedic training for residents, fellows and medical students. Our department is in a period of rapid expansion in both the volume and breadth of our (1) clinical care; (2) research; including clinical, translational, and basic science research; and (3) surgical training.

           THE DEPARTMENT OF ORTHOPEDICS AND PHYSICAL REHABILITATION, along with the Division of Rheumatology, form the renowned UMMS/UMMHC Musculoskeletal Center of Excellence. The Center focuses on clinical care and research for the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal disorders. Patients have access to preventive, diagnostic, treatment and rehabilitation services for musculoskeletal injuries and disorders. This includes a direct link to the advanced, highly specialized services located on the three UMMS/UMMHC campuses.
