Elective Description: The main goal of this elective is to expose students to the unique issues involved in Women's Mental health.  The student will spend time with multiple health care providers in different settings in order to learn about the mental health needs of women who are pregnant and those with gynecologic and breast cancers.  Other opportunities could be possible based on the student's special interests when available. Also included in this elective is a writing assignment which could be a case review or a literature search on a related Women's Mental Health topic of interest to the student.  This elective will be 4 weeks in length and will be graded on an O/AEP/EP/ BEP/ NCR basis.


Clinical Experience

Outpatient Consultation/Treatment- Dr. Lundquist - Tue am/Friday am - Two half days/week- one to two new patient consultation /week expected. 
Inpatient Psychosomatic Medicine Consultation to Ob/Gin Services- Dr. Gaffrey: two full days/week- two to three completed consultations /week expected as well as follow up on patients as assigned.
Reproductive Endocrinology: Complex Menopause Clinic: Dr. Seibel- Tue. pm One Half day/week.
Oncology Psychology Consultations: Breast Cancer: Dr. Sharenow- One half day /week- one consultation /week expected.

Academic Experience: One full day/week-  Dr. Byatt and/or Dr. Marsh

Writing Project- either a literature review or a case report to be presented at either a brown bag seminar or an academic interest group Meeting.
