Do I need a car? You do not need a car as there are many local commercial shops within walking distance from UMass. However, the only transportation system in the city is the Worcester Regional Transit Authority so I do recommend having a car. A local bus schedule can be found at http://www.therta.com/schedules.html; the number 16 bus stops at UMass and you can transfer to another line for other city destinations.
