Provider Training 

The Oral Health Initiatives program offers trainings on a variety of pertinent topics to dental and other health professionals. Past trainings have included:

Dental Practice Management (PDF), focusing on improving the operational and financial performance of dental practices located within community health centers.

School based oral health programs, focusing on the design, implementation and challenges of establishing a school based dental service. View Oral Health Curriculum for School Nurses (PDF) focusing on how to identify, treat, and refer common oral health problems. 

Several notable oral health training materials have been developed by other organizations including:

• Oral Health Care During Pregnancy and Early Childhood – Practice Guidelines, New York State Department of Health, (link to PDF). 
• Oral Health Professional's Guide for Children with Special Health Care Needs , five educational modules developed by the National Maternal and Child Oral Health Resource Center.  
• Oral Health Risk Assessment Training for Pediatricians and Other Child Health Professionals , American Academy of Pediatrics. 
• Oral Health Web-based Curriculum , developed by the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, which offers pediatric oral health cases to test your knowledge. 
• Smiles for Life: A National Oral Health Curriculum for Family Medicine, providing 5 modules on oral health across the life span, Society of Teachers of Family Medicine (STFM).
