GSN Honorees

Dawn Carpenter DNP ACNP-BC, Assistant Professor, University of Massachusetts Worcester Graduate School of Nursing, received the 2013 National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculty (NONPF) Poster Presentation Award. Her poster presentation entitled: Use of Simulation to Facilitate Interprofessional Education involved the use of human patient simulation (HPS) with acute care scenarios where interprofessional healthcare professionals (e.g. Nurses, Pharmacists, Respiratory Therapists, Nurse Educators) focused on teamwork in a collaborative educational environment. This recognition award was presented at the 39th Annual NONPF Conference in Pittsburg, PA held April 11- 13, acknowledging the important contributions made towards the Nurse Practitioner (NP) role including NP education and NP practice-based endeavors.

Laura L. Maguire MS RN, PhD student, University of Massachusetts Worcester Graduate School of Nursing:The Annual Eastern Nursing Research Society (ENRS) Conference was held in Boston, MA, on April 16-18.University of Massachusetts Worcester PhD nursing student, Laura Lyn Maguire received the prestigious ENRS Doctoral Student Nursing Scientist Award given in recognition of her preliminary dissertation research work with faculty mentor/advisor, Dr. Susan Sullivan-Bolyai, Professor, UMass Worcester Graduate School of Nursing. Her poster presentation was entitled: Adapting A Parent Diabetes Education Intervention For Grandparents Using Focus Group Data, a focus group study conducted with grandparents regarding care of grandchildren with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D).ENRS is dedicated to creating a community of nurses interested in promoting health through nursing science and supporting regional nursing research in the Eastern Region of the United States.
