Families provide an important context for rehabilitation and recovery. Parenting is a significant life role for the majority of individuals living with mental illnesses. Functioning well as a parent is likely to be related to the well-being and community integration of adults, as well as contributing to improved outcomes for their children. We develop, implement and test new models of supported parenting, particularly for families with “overlapping needs,” i.e., the challenges of wrapping interventions around families in which both parents and children have mental health conditions. We are interested in: - The family life experiences of adults with mental illnesses
- Risk and resiliency, early intervention and the prevention of psychopathology in children
- Services and supports that promote optimal functioning and the highest quality of life for individuals living with mental illnesses and their families
- Policies, procedures and practices that shape services and supports, including the use of research evidence
