For this rotation, you will go to UMass Memorial University campus. You will work directly with pediatric residents and attendings. Typically you will do two weeks with the pediatric hospitalist service, one week with the specialist service (pulmonology, GI, neurology, heme/onc), and one week of night float. Your responsibilities will include rounding on your patients and presenting them during group rounds, managing and teaching medical students, and with the help of you senior taking care of the patients and admissions in the afternoon/nightfloat.
This rotation is directed strongly towards education and all of the attendings and residents are enthusiastic about teaching. There is excellent didactics usually twice per day. It is a friendly and nuturing environment to learn and care for patients. By the end of the rotation, you will be confident in caring for routine pediatric issues and will have had some exposure to the rare cases.
