Dr. Arlene Ash to serve on the COPPS Committee for the CMS White Paper Project

Dr. Arlene Ash, Chief for the Division of Biostatistics and Health Services Research in the Department of Quantitative Health Sciences, to serve on the Committee of Presidents of Statistical Societies (COPPS) for the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) white paper project.

The purpose of COPPS is to work on shared problems and improve intersociety communication. The CMS project on Methods for Hospital–specific estimates of quality of care. The main goal for the committee is to advise the CMS. CMS is interested in a policy statement by a statistical organization (COPPS) regarding the appropriate techniques for creating hospital-specific estimates of quality care.
