Dr. Catarina Kiefe travels to China to address public health and healthcare issues
Department of Quantitative Health Sciences Chair, Dr. Catarina Kiefe, travelled to China in October to speak on various issues relating to healthcare and public health. These lectures were part of a UMMS-China initiative to promote UMMS globalization and included speakers from both UMMS and China.
Chancellor Michael F. Collins, MD, gave the keynote address at the Sichuan-UMass Forum on 21st Century Health Care Challenges at Sichuan University in Chengdu, China, while Dr. Kiefe's lecture addressed "Population Health Research: a Brief Overview with Examples."
Dr. Kiefe went on to the Peking University School of Public Health in Beijing, presenting "Measuring Quality in Health Care: Definitions, Examples and Implications" and then to Tongji University in Shanghai to present "Quantitative Health Sciences: the Basic Methods for 21st Century Population Health Research."
