Department of Cancer Biology

Created in 2002, the Department of Cancer Biology's mission is to provide outstanding research contributions in all the fundamental mechanisms that lead to the onset, progression, and dissemination of cancer. 

The department is located on the University campus in the Lazare Research Building, 4th Floor.

Departmental Highlights                              

The Worcester Foundation for Biomedical Research (WFBR) has chosen two of Cancer Biology's own faculty to receive the 2011 Grants: 

Eric Baehrecke, PhD
, professor of cancer biology: Identification of genes that are required for cancer initiation and metastasis and Junhao Mao, PhD, assistant professor of cancer biology: Non-canonical Gli regulation in pancreatic cancer.

The FASEB MARC program has awarded Shawna Guillemette, graduate student, a travel award to the 42nd EMS Annual Meeting in Montreal Canada, where she will be presenting "FANCJ Functions in Error-Free UV DNA Repair"!

Dr. Bergmann will be on campus joining the Department of Cancer Biology starting September 1, 2011.
