Michael Grenier, M.P.A.
Michael Grenier joined the Center for Health Law and Economics at UMass Medical School in 2012. Mr. Grenier brings over 17 years of experience in the areas of health care financing, policy development, and data analysis.
Immediately prior to joining the Center, Mr. Grenier was a Pricing Policy Manager at the Massachusetts Division of Health Care Finance and Policy. In this capacity, he managed the development of payment policies and rates for the Massachusetts Medicaid and Health Safety Net (charity care) programs for a wide array of health care services, including hospitals, nursing facilities, and community based providers. He also managed the annual collection of $220 million in nursing facility provider taxes. In addition, Mr. Grenier provided analytical support for two public commissions comprised of state officials and stakeholder representatives, the Massachusetts Special Commission on the Health Care Payment System and the Massachusetts Special Commission on Provider Price Reform.
Mr. Grenier holds a master's degree in public administration from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Massachusetts Lowell.
