Conquering Diseases Biorepository Core
The aim of the Conquering Diseases Biorepository Core of the University of Massachusetts Medical School is to obtain patient consented high-quality biospecimens that are linked to de-identified medical information. We use validated secure methods of custody from the time of sample collection, through conveyance, extraction, and transfer to secure thermal preservation. We maintain and safeguard links to de-identified clinical information using an unbroken chain of custody.
The acquisition process involves a dedicated informed consent process, which is leveraged to obtain feedback and increase public support for broad-based clinical research efforts. RNA, DNA and plasma protein products derived from peripheral blood and excess tissue are all preserved using up-to-date technology in our Biorepository.
Mission Statement
To make clinical information and linked biological samples available to qualified researchers using methods that build public trust through privacy protection and specimen preservation.
