2014 UMCCTS Community Engagement and Research Symposium

Building on Partnership Strengths to Improve Health in Communities

Friday, November 7, 2014; 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Albert Sherman Center, UMass Medical School, Worcester, MA 

Breakout Session Proposals Due: Friday, September 5, 2014, 5:00 PM 

Goal of the Symposium: To build our shared capacity to address health issues in communities throughout Massachusetts by creating opportunities for people to:

  • Meet each other
  • Learn more about each other’s work and interests
  • Make connections and plan for future collaborative work.

Audience: Community leaders, faculty and staff from all five UMass campuses and other organizations and institutions interested in partnered research

Potential Breakout Session Formats:

  • Panel Discussion: An interactive session about a real-world issues to expand a network and brainstorm research ideas
  • Training/Workshop: A training or presentation that would be of value to this conference’s participants
  • Presentation of Research Results: A presentation with an interactive discussion to brainstorm next steps

There will be two concurrent, 90-minute breakout sessions. Sessions or trainings that have been previously presented at other conferences are welcome.

 Please submit your proposal via email by Friday, September 5, 2014 to: with the following information:

  • Title of the Breakout Session
  • Name(s) and Affiliation of Moderator(s) 
  • List of Breakout Session Presenters with email/phone 
  • Background and Purpose of the Breakout Session
  • Anticipated Format, including a description of how you will interact with the audience
