Objectives:
- Identify and assess trauma in children ages 6-18 involved in the courts or at risk for Juvenile Justice involvement
- Increase trauma-sensitive practices by police, the courts
- Increase access to EBTs for court-involved youth
- Adapt TF-CBT to better meet the needs of court-involved youth and assess Tx engagement & effectiveness
- Identify youth from military families within schools and pediatric settings and screen for trauma
- Increase knowledge of military culture and trauma-informed practices within schools and pediatric settings
- Increase rates of referral to clinicians trained in EBTs
- Increase clinicians’ knowledge of military family culture and family engagement practices
- Increase clinician knowledge of family engagement and culturally sensitive practice for Latino families
- Increase the number of Latino and other underserved youth who receive and complete EBTs
| Processes:
- Implement consistent trauma screening for children in probation, schools, and primary care
- Train police, probation officers, and judges regarding best practices in recognizing and responding to child trauma
- Establish a Liaison to the courts to engage families, facilitate screening, triage, and trauma-sensitive practices
- Implement screening for military families within schools and pediatric settings
- Develop structures and train staff within schools and pediatric settings to identify trauma symptoms, provide trauma-informed practices, and refer youth for EBT, including military families
- Create a CRS that links children/families with appropriate assessment and EBTs
- Develop adaptations for TF-CBT to be used effectively with court-involved youth and children from military families and train clinicians/supervisors in TF-CBT
- Train TF-CBT clinicians in family engagement and cultural competence
- Evaluator/create feedback loops for CQI
